Work History
2012 - 2014
Asda - Instore Bakery Assistant
- Role involved merchandising freshly baked goods and assisting customers with queries and complaints. This role required a lot of time management and planning skills to ensure that brought in goods (which required adequate defrosting) and freshly baked goods were merchandised to ensure that merchandise was available to purchase on the store shelves as quickly as possible each day. I also honed my team working and leadership skills, as I was always aware of the merchandise that was still outstanding from the store shelves, and always offered or requested assistance when certain sections required more attention than others.
2010 - 2011
- Was seeking entry level employment in IT support at this time; I also got a Microsoft desktop support technician certification in this period to boost my CV. As I was unsuccessful, I went back to college to pursue a development career.
2008 - 2009
Blue Ocean Contact Centres - Reservation Co-ordinator
- Role involved booking car rides for corporate and high-worth clients based in the USA, and querying the status of their pick-up with the local dispatch that was handling the ride. As a customer service role, this helped me to hone my persuasion and negotiation skills and taught me how to present myself with confidence when speaking to clients over the phone.
2007
Barclays Bank - Payment Processor
- Role involving processing cheque payments received from customers made to the collections department. The current account number each cheque paid towards was verified, and then cashed in batches. This role required numeracy skills as the monetary total for each batch had to be verified twice to ensure that Barclay’s accounting was correct when the cheques were debited.
2006
Thus - Telephone Provisioning Agent
- Role was based in the provisioning team of telco that sold telephone lines and services provided by BT Openreach. My role was
to input services a client had purchased onto the firm’s billing system once the services had been activated by BT Openreach.
2005
Bishopsford Community School - IT Technician Intern
- Role consisted of assisting the main IT support team in maintenance of the desktops used by pupils and the laptops issued to teaching members of staff. I was in charge of a programme of reimaging and adding additional RAM to all laptops and for the start of the new school year.
Volunteering
2016
Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection - Donation Facilitator
- Participated in annual Christmas drive for food bank donations for the Trussell Trust and FareShare. Approached shoppers with requests for donations, and served as a point at which donations could be provided.
2011
Cancer Research UK - Shop Assistant
- Assisted the manager in the cleaning and presentation of the shop front, and cycling out items that had been merchandised for a couple of weeks with new items. I also cleaned and prepared clothes and other items to go on sale. When there wasn't a volunteer that had come in to specifically on the till, I covered this responsibility.
Interests
- In my spare time, I like to keep up with politics and current affairs. I am also a season ticket holder for my local non-league football team.
